Ontario guidelines recommendations for breast screening

Information

Women Between Ages 20-39

  • should know their own breasts on how they should look and feel

  • do regular breast self-exams (BSE)

Women Between Ages 40-49

  • should know their breasts

  • do regular breast self-exams (BSE)

  • start discussing mammograms in regards to baselines ( family history)

Women Between Ages 50-74

  • should know their breasts

  • do regular breast self-exams (BSE)

  • Mammograms should be performed every 2 years for Breast Screening
    (this can be arranged through Ontario Breast Screening Program)

Women Over Age 75

  • should continue to know their own breasts

  • do regular breast self-exams (BSE)

  • Mammograms should be discussed to see if there is a need to continue
