In today's world many women find themselves working full time while raising a family. This can make it easy to put ones own health on the back burner while ensuring the health needs of family members are met. In order to be the best we can so that we can continue to care for our families we must look after ourselves. I recall some great wisdom I once read on a tshirt " if mom is happy the whole family is happy ".

There is ample research supporting the hypothesis that maintaining a healthy body weight can reduce our risk for many diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, a number of cancers and depression to name a few. Achieving healthy body weight is best accomplished by healthy diet and exercise. Also important to health is to participate in preventative care screening programs which vary with age.
