Bullying

Bullying can be in many forms:

  • Physical such as hitting, shoving, stealing or damaging property

  • Verbal such as name calling, mocking or making sexist, racist or homophobic comments

  • Social such as excluding others from as group or spreading rumours

  • Cyberbullying on an electronic device online such as posting rumours, embarrassing pictures or making fake profiles or websites

Bullying Signs

The victims of bullying often experience:

  • social anxiety

  • loneliness

  • withdrawal

  • physical illness

  • low self-esteem

  • take on an aggressive behaviour

  • school marks may drop

  • depression

Some signs that your loved one is being bullied:

  • not wanting to go to school

  • not wanting to participate in school activities

  • acting differently that is not normal for them

  • suddenly losing money or personal objects

  • coming home from school with torn clothes or broken possessions
